How to Brand Your Homepage Arcade Games
Most Homepage Arcade users want to make the games look as if they are as much a part of their site as possible. This can be accomplished by placing artwork tightly around the game on your pages and by matching the colors in the game with the colors surrounding it. You can even make it appear as if your company name or logo is a part of the game.
Here are three examples of Homepage Arcade games on fictional sites that use surrounding graphics and colors to brand the games.
HipHop Example
In this example, a frame has been placed around the game that includes the name of site at the top and the company logo at the bottom right. This was accomplished by using simple HTML tables. You can view the HTML page and an alternative version that shows the table borders.
Quiximity Example
In this example, the game has been placed inside a larger graphic which includes the name of the site at the top and more branding at the bottom. The green color used in the game has been matched by the green in the HTML graphics so that users do not know where the game ends and the page graphics begin. This was accomplished by using simple HTML tables. You can view the HTML page and an alternative version that shows the table borders.
Tornado Tear-Up Example
In this example, the game has been placed inside a site that already uses branded graphics, images and colors on every page. The game fits into the site because the color of the game's frame matches the color of the page background. You can view the HTML page.
Advantages of Branding
By using surrounding graphics and colors, you can make your Homepage Arcade games seem to be part of your site and not external content. In addition, branding will make the games more valuable to you since your users will more closely associate the game with your site and are more likely to return.
Best of all, it doesn't cost anything extra to brand your games this way. As a Homepage Arcade user, you are welcome to design the HTML pages where the games reside in any way. This gives you a lot of freedom to present the games to your users in a manner that fits the design of the rest of your site.
